FAQ’s
Starting therapy can feel like a big decision, and it’s completely normal to wonder what to expect. My goal is to make this process feel comfortable, transparent, and supportive from the very beginning. Below you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions about therapy and how I work with clients.
-
Seeking support can be overwhelming and scary, especially if you have never worked with a counselor before. It is so important to feel comfortable with who you pick and confident that their skills and approach can match your needs. I love offering a free, no-risk initial consultation so that you can get a feel for me, my process, and how we might work together. During this 15 minute conversation, you can ask questions, name worries, and gain insight about what our work together could look like.
Therapy is a safe, supportive space to explore what you’re going through and work toward healing and growth. It can help you process difficult experiences, learn coping tools, and feel more grounded and confident. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, grief, trauma, or life transitions, therapy offers a space that’s just for you.

Trauma-informed therapy means I approach every session with sensitivity to how your past may impact your present life. It’s about safety, trust, and empowerment — helping you move forward in a way that feels safe and responsive to your lived experiences.
-
The first session is mostly about getting to know you — your story, what’s bringing you to therapy, and what you hope to gain. We’ll talk about your goals and make a plan together. There’s no pressure to share everything right away- we’ll move at your pace

All sessions are held online through a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform (SimplePractice). You can join from the comfort of your home (or anywhere private) using a computer, tablet, or phone. Many clients find that virtual therapy feels just as personal and effective as in-person sessions and offers the convenience of no commute.

Yes. Your privacy is very important to me. I use an encrypted platform designed for telehealth (SimplePractice), and I follow all HIPAA guidelines to protect your confidentiality.

Sessions are typically 50 minutes. Most clients start with weekly sessions, but we can adjust frequency based on your needs and progress. We can also discuss if intensives or longer sessions might be right for you for accelerated healing and trauma symptom reduction.

This question really depends on your goals and what you’re working through. Some people come for a few months to focus on a specific concern while others find therapy helpful for deeper healing or continued support.I like to joke with clients that I am constantly working myself out of a job, but it is true! My goal is not for therapy to be a long-term fixture in your life, but for you to feel relief from symptoms, have more clarity, and new skills and tools to cope with challenges.

You can schedule a free 15-minute consultation to see if we’re a good fit and ask any other questions you might have. From there, we’ll set up your first session and begin your therapy journey.
I use SimplePractice as my secure Electronic Health Records system and do a paperless intake process through their online platform. Using your preferred email, I will send you the necessary forms to be completed prior to our first meeting. From there, I will send you the link for our first appointment!
