THERAPY FOR

Play therapy uses the natural language and interests of children- play!- to help them cope with changes or challenges in their lives. Whether experiencing worries about everyday life (possibly about school, athletics, peer or sibling relationships, or general life transitions), or a significant trauma, fear, grief, loss, or change, children are able to learn tools to understand and cope. Learning about emotions, the behaviors often associated with various emotions, and skills to help manage them, is a powerful ability that will support your child throughout their life.

For young children, sometimes the best way to support their emotional, social, or behavioral needs is through intentional play with their caregiver. A strong bond, or secure attachment to caregivers, is considered an essential component of a child’s wellbeing. Sometimes challenging behaviors are a symptom of an unmet but unknown need. You absolutely know your child best, and using skills taught in Child-Parent Relationship therapy, you will learn how to playfully connect with your child in a way that addresses your child’s needs and their ability to express them.

Parent support can complement the work of play therapy. My goal is to give you tangible tools to continue to champion your child’s growth at home. Through counseling, we will seek to enhance your child’s connection with themselves and others, development of positive self-esteem, and effective relational skills.
